When the war broke out, we mobilized immediately to support relief efforts in communities where homes and buildings had been destroyed and hundreds of families were forced into temporary shelter. In partnership with a local congregation, we visited families staying in hotels to distribute care packages and to lead therapeutic Nurture Groups, creating gentle, safe spaces that offered tools for self-regulation and for giving and receiving care in the midst of shock and uncertainty. We also delivered 20 mattresses, generously provided by the Joseph Project, to a congregation’s bomb shelter where members without access to safe rooms were being hosted. In addition, we arranged for gift baskets filled with simple comforts and games to reach families in our network, as a reminder that they are not forgotten and not alone. The suffering we witnessed during those early days was heavy and humbling. Yet we remain committed to responding with compassion and practical action, believing that even small acts of care can lift weary hearts and bring light into moments of deep darkness.
