Elan is 27 years old. He grew up with a single mother, moving back and forth between her and a violent father. As a result, he developed social anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder. Several years ago, a man who claimed to be a trustworthy “friend” befriended him. Excited to connect, Elan agreed to a business proposal the man offered—an investment in real estate on the condition that they take out a loan together.
However, the man deceived Elan by taking out the loan solely in Elan’s name before disappearing. To this day, Elan is left responsible for repaying the debt. Additionally, a year ago, Elan was involved in a car accident that left him disabled, making it difficult for him to work.
He now lives with his mother, contributing to household expenses as much as he can, but struggles to find steady employment due to his condition. HaTikva Project stepped in to help by covering a portion of Elan’s debt and providing encouragement to this young man.
