During the 12-day conflict with Iran, a missile fell on their street. Three buildings on the street were declared for immediate demolition after the impact, but miraculously, their building, although old, was not damaged to that extent. Ibrahim, a 58-year-old single Christian Arab with permanent residency, lives with his elderly mother. A talented pianist, he volunteers his time playing in various communities for different events. Recently, he lost his hearing aids—the very tools that enable him to play and serve others. Unfortunately, his health insurance would not cover replacements. In this time of need, HaTikva Project was honored to step in and provide him with new hearing aids, allowing him to continue sharing his gift of music.

Nehaya and Galeel are Arab Christians from Jerusalem and parents to two boys, ages 12 and 13. Nehaya works as a teacher, while Galeel, after struggling with substance abuse, is currently in an eight-month rehabilitation program at a Christian center in Haifa, where he must stay full-time. Before entering the program, his past choices led to significant bank debts, leaving Nehaya searching for a higher-paying job to support their family and pay off their debts. She suffers from severe anxiety and Tourette’s Syndrome, which makes it difficult to manage her children. She is currently living with her parents. One of our staff members recently visited her, to offer support and prayer. She was so overwhelmed by the love and care that she burst into tears. We are also sponsoring her therapy from a local psychologist.

Instead, we woke up to the news that a war had begun. That same day, Yinon received a call from his commander telling him to report for reserve duty. After quickly packing, he kissed his wife and 4 children goodbye, not knowing what awaited him or his family. Yinon was sent to perform counter-terrorism operations in dangerous locations in Judea and Samaria. She’s struggled for a long time financially because she simply doesn’t make enough money. This intensified the difficulty and the debts she was carrying from her previous situation. His income was affected during the war because of the lack of tourism so while his rent and bills continued to pile up he found himself in increasing debt. Thanks to gifts and donations HaTikva Project was able to help him financially get through this difficult time.

Having no formal education or training, she had been working in a nursing home for a lower-than-average salary. At the beginning of the war, the nursing home was closed and Yael had to apply for welfare. In addition to struggling to find employment, her ex-husband left her with significant debt. Her lack of income is now adding to her burden. HaTikva Project was able to help relieve some of the pressure so that Yael could get back on her feet again.

During the initial months of Israel’s October 7th war, a missile fell four buildings away from their house, and the force of the blast caused all of their windows to shatter. Her husband was a policeman who was murdered on October 7th while protecting their city from Hamas terrorists. Ilana is left with two sons (16 and 17), and although they are recognized by the Ministry of Defense and receive government assistance, they still need additional help. Due to their grief, the boys were having difficulty studying.

Michael is a young man who runs a business centered around weddings. Michael was also called up to the military reserves to protect the Israeli people.
