Vladimir's Life as a Teacher and Holocaust Survivor

September 18th, 2024 |HaTikva Dental

Vladimir is an 87-year-old Holocaust survivor who worked as an aviation engineer and was also a Physics teacher in Israel for 18 years.

He’s been a patient of HaTikva Dental for a long time. His friend told him about the clinic, and he decided to try it. He has been with us ever since. He admires the team and the warm atmosphere of acceptance and care for people like him. He even told us that he is eagerly waiting for his next appointment! He also told us a little bit about his personal story.

He was born in Stavropoliye. He was 3 when the “big war” came to the USSR and 5 when his mother took him to run from the Nazis. He remembers it very well. His father was taken to the war immediately and died in Kerch, Crimea, under the bombing. Vladimir and his mother were living at a train station in 1943 when suddenly a girl discovered that a Jewish boy was among the people at the station. She immediately ran to Vladimir’s mother, warning that the Sonderkommando was very close, and they must flee. The Sonderkommando was a Nazi unit tasked with finding and killing Jewish people. They found a horse with a rider and a carriage where they could hide and ride to a safer place. When they arrived, there were times they had to hide in the basement. This was the hardest time for them, but thankfully it was already the end of 1943, so there was just a year left until the end of this horrible war that brought so much suffering to everyone. Never again
