Samuel, a 20-year-old husband and father, immigrated to Israel from Ukraine with his wife two years ago to escape the conflict. Shortly after arriving, he was drafted into the Israeli army. His wife is still in the process of obtaining citizenship, but until that is resolved, she has no legal status. As a result, the IDF does not recognize their marriage and only provides Samuel with a salary of 1,600 NIS per month. She takes on as much work as possible, and Samuel also does odd jobs in his free time, but their combined efforts are not enough to make ends meet.
Finding an apartment was challenging due to his low income, but they eventually secured one on the condition that they pay three months' rent in advance—an amount totaling approximately 13,000 NIS. Samuel took out loans to cover this cost, but he still had an outstanding electricity bill from their previous apartment. Thanks to friends like you and with God’s help, HaTikva Project was able to support them during this difficult time.
