Rebuilding Life After October 7th

November 20th, 2024 |HaTikva Aid

Magdalena is a 26-year-old single woman who lived in Portugal until she came to Israel last October for a family visit.

She was invited to the Nova Festival in Be'eri, where the mass attack took place on October 7.

She and her partner at the time hid in a vehicle that was hit by bullets and she was injured in her left leg. The two then managed to run and hide under a larger vehicle, but on the way they were exposed to harsh scenes of massacre and kidnappings. They stayed for about 8 hours in hiding until a military force arrived to rescue them.

Since then she has been suffering from early post-traumatic symptoms, she has trouble sleeping and cries a lot.

Before arriving in Israel Magdalena worked as a veterinary nurse. Still, since that massacre, it has been difficult for her to see blood and surgeries, so she lost her job and is now thinking about changing her profession.

She wants to become a therapeutic cycling instructor but doesn’t have the means to pay for the training course.

Thanks to your support, HaTikva Project was able to help her pay for this course so she can try to start to rebuild her life after such a life-changing trauma.
