Lilia’s Journey: A Holocaust Survivor’s Resilience and Gratitude

August 26th, 2024 |HaTikva Dental

Lilia is a Holocaust survivor who came to Israel from Odessa, Ukraine. Her parents were doctors. As a doctor, her dad was taken to the frontline immediately, where he was killed. Soon after, the Nazis entered Odessa and started to control the territory. Together with her mother, they miraculously made it onboard the second ship from Odessa to Kazakhstan. Later, they found out that the first ship had been bombed and sank. After the war was over, they returned to Odessa, where they found their house was thankfully untouched.

Lilia loves sharing her experience at HaTikva Dental with others. She mentioned that Holocaust survivors meet together in groups and support each other. She learned about the clinic from another Holocaust survivor and was grateful for the recommendation. Maher, a kind and caring doctor, took care of her dental needs.

She shared about one time when she was experiencing pain in her wisdom tooth, which needed to be extracted. The staff at HaTikva brought in a specialist who dedicated time and patience to her care. She is deeply thankful for the excellent treatment she received with us.
