Abigail is a 37-year-old single mother with six children, ages 3 to 13. We support her and her children through our Families Department, with her three oldest living in group homes. One of our social workers shares about their experience:
“Meeting this family is always a great joy for me. Even with just three of the children at home, the mother still faces struggles, especially with the older boys away. I support her by helping with household tasks and guiding the children’s behavior when she doesn’t have the energy to do so. One day, she sincerely thanked me for my support—and it seemed her son did too. He looked into my eyes and asked what to do when he feels angry, essentially asking how to self-regulate.
I receive so much joy from spending time with this family.”
