Fira and Roma are our patients. Fira, now 80 years old, came from Khmelnytskyi, Ukraine, in the 1990s. She describes the atmosphere at HaTikva Dental as warm and welcoming. Any issues that arose were resolved quickly. It was friends who recommended HaTikva Dental to her, and she’s grateful to have found us.
Reflecting on her life, Fira shares that she never knew her father. He died before she was born in 1944. Most of her extended family perished during the war, but by a miracle, she, her mother, and her siblings survived. At age five, Fira fell from a tree while playing her older sister hadn’t noticed she had climbed it. She broke her leg and was sent to a convalescent home for sick children, where she remained for five years, walking on crutches and receiving no visits from her mother. When she finally returned home at age ten, those five years felt like a blacked-out memory.
Fira says that life in Ukraine was filled with hardship, but everything changed when she came to her beloved Israel. Here, she finally found home and peace.
